A back or head rest comprises a pad 3 of rubber or plastic foam inserted in a textile cover 1 through a slot which is closed by a sliding clasp fastener, a sheet 8 of rubber latex being detachably secured to the cover by press studs and frictionally engaging the seat back to maintain the rest in desired position. The sheet 8 and top, bottom and side faces of the cover may be covered with imitation leather 9 and aeration grilles 5 are provided. In a modification the cover is not removable. The pad is of firm material and a row of holes along the bottom of the cover replaces the grilles.
